Moorestown's Remembrance Park is the triangle of land at Camden Avenue and Second Street. This land was purchased and landscaped for the purpose of a park in 1906 by members of the Moorestown Improvement Association. In 1918, this was gifted to the township to remain a park, and was dedicated to the memory of seven Moorestownians who gave their lives in World War I. An Oak tree was planted and stone monument added.
In 1994, American Legion Post 42 rededicated the park in the memory of the veterans. In May, 2004, Perkins Center for the Arts and a group of citizens collaborated with Katherine Hackl under an “Artists in Communities” grant to bring stunning new beauty to this “pocket park”. Katherine worked with more than sixty community members of all ages to create unique tiles depicting indigenous plants and animals of the Moorestown area. These gorgeous tile/mosaic works were installed on custom-made concrete benches and planters that were added to Remembrance Park. For the last few years, under the leadership of Holly Myers, community members have begun an ongoing effort to refurbish the park. In the spring and fall of 2023, MIA trustees, the American Legion Post 42, Boy Scouts Troop 44. and other Moorestown citizens joined in to clean out beds, rake leaves, and mulch the site. A new oak tree was planted to replace the original that was lost over the years.
